ATLANTA (May 24, 2010) - The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) today announced that Atlanta-based start-up company, Pindrop Security, has won the 2011 GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition and will receive $50,000 cash and over $200,000 in donated services from the Atlanta business community to help the company grow. Pindrop Security offers a unique Caller ID technology that authenticates callers through the "fingerprint" of the phone call making financial and other transactions over the phone more secure.

"The GRA/TAG Business Launch Competition gets more competitive every year and we applaud Pindrop Security for winning this year's competition," stated TAG president and CEO, Tino Mantella. "Georgia is one of the top states in the nation for entrepreneurism and we are pleased to support the growth of new business. Pindrop Security is a great example of the kind of innovation that makes Georgia a leader in financial technology and information security."

The other finalists Soket, AuditMyBooks and ViscidTech will split the remaining $200,000 in pro bono services, a first for the competition. Services include legal counsel, professional consulting, marketing, software and even real estate space. They have been donated to the final participants in a way to not only help ensure their success, but to assist in connecting the Atlanta entrepreneurial community with established businesses.

"It is exciting for us that all of the companies are able to walk away from the competition with a great experience and a package of services vital to a new company," stated Sid Elliott, director for the GRA. "This has always been a public, private partnership and this year's support and participation proved the strength of that partnership."

This year's event also featured a 'People's Choice Award.' The over 130 participants that took part in today's final competition voted using the TAG Entrepreneurs Mobile App for their favorite presentation. Soket, a company that focuses on online promotions that offer local organizations a place to manage, monitor and make sense of promotional efforts on the web, was the proud recipient of the first annual People's Choice Award.

Judges for the final round of the 2011 Competition included Ron Vern, former CEO of Sage Software; Allen Moseley, General Partner at Noro-Moseley Partners; Wayne Hunter, Managing Partner, Harbert Venture Partners (Roanoke, VA); John Glushik, Investment Team, InterSouth Partners (Durham, NC); and Tripp Rackley, Technology Entrepreneur and 2010 Inductee to the Georgia Technology Hall of Fame.

The competition, now in its sixth year, facilitates connections between the younger entrepreneurial community and the more seasoned entrepreneurs, with the initial applications being screened by an experienced panel of entrepreneurs, and the most promising applicants being assigned a mentor for the duration of the competition. Participants are also connected to the investor community, with out-of-state venture capital companies being represented among the judge's panel and a multitude of angel and venture capital investors in attendance at the event. SEO Service Opens New Doors in Online Markets

Atlanta, Georgia - May 27, 2011- Vayu Media offers local search engine optimization services to help businesses gain an edge on the Internet. Vayu Media is an Internet marketing company that offers SEO service to businesses looking to gain ground online.

Local search engine optimization gets a company's name toward the top of searches on sites like Google. When people run searches for products or services on the Internet, they typically only click through to the first few pages of the search results. SEO helps get a business to the top of general searches, but many companies look to be at the top of local searches only, since it's cheaper and makes more sense.

Searchers on the Internet frequently look for products in their local area. This is where local search engine optimization comes into play. When a location is added to a search, localized optimization becomes incredibly useful. This gets a company's page to show up near the top of lists searched in their immediate area, thus helping the company get its name out.

Vayu Media is an Atlanta SEO Company that specializes in this type of service. They understand that normal media is more expensive than Internet marketing. Internet marketing lets businesses focus on a certain area and group of people in a way that isn't offered by traditional sources.

Newly Established Georgia Team Handball Club Won Silver At The USA Team Handball Championships in Salt Lake City, UT

Atlanta, GA - May 24, 2010 -

Georgia Handball Club LogoOne of the most popular international sports is very well represented in Atlanta, Georgia.  Olympic Team Handball was introduced as an Olympic sport for men at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, but dropped after that, only to be resumed at the 1972 Summer Olympics, again on German territory.  The 1996 Olympic games brought team handball to Atlanta, several club teams were founded and initially flourished.  However, the lack of funding limited the growth potential of the sport on American soil and Atlanta was left without an active club team in 2010.

The Georgia Handball Club was founded late in 2010 as a new team handball club accepted and supported by the USA Team Handball Association.  The establishment of the club was possible by the dedication to the sport of Damir Hecimovic (Coach) who played professionally in Bosnia. With the help of the USA Team Handball Association Damir has recruited players that are new to the sport or have played the sport at various levels in other countries.  The current make up of the Georgia Handball Club reflects the international popularity of the sport.  Players on the roster originate from countries including Germany, France, Poland, Slovakia, Serbia, Bosnia & the United States.  "Atlanta is an international city, our club proves this.  It wouldn't be possible to start a new team handball club without the international community" explained Damir.

G.H.C. TeamThe club practices at a church gym in Snellville on a court about half the official size and with only one goal that was built by team member Dusko Ladisic.  One of the team members Stefan Bader lives in Greenville, SC and drives around 2 hours each way to be able to play the sport he missed playing since moving from Germany to the United States. This dedication to the sport allowed the team to travel to Salt Lake City and compete in the USA Team Handball Championship Open tournament.  The team didn't have a lot of opportunity to get game fit. Currently there isn't an active Team Handball league in the South Eastern United States.  However, all these obstacles just made the group of players more determined.  With only one substitution player on the bench the team travelled to Salt Lake City.  They beat Seattle, New York, Tuscan Raiders, Los Angeles and competed closely with the 10 time champions New York Athletic Club in the final.  The lack of bench depth with only one bench player caught up with the bruised team after 5 hard hitting games.  After initial disappointment the team reflected back and was very proud of the accomplishment.   "Silver shines as gold to us; we weren't even sure if we would have enough players to register for the tournament, so winning a silver is an enormous achievement" reflected Damir Hecimovic.

Any athletes interested in Team Handball should contact the coach Damir Hecimovic. The team is currently sponsored by Gourmet Euro Foods and SEO Services Firm Vayu Media.  If you would like to support the Georgia Handball Club please contact Damir Hecimovic at hecimovic6 (at) yahoo (dot) com.

9th Annual WEBChallenge focused on Engaging Students in S.T.E.M. Learning

Atlanta (May 11, 2011) -- TAG Education Collaborative, the charitable arm of the Technology Association of Georgia that is focused on science, technology, engineering and math (S.T.E.M.) education initiatives, is announcing the winners of its 9th Annual WEBChallenge Scholarship Program. The WEBChallenge program engages teams of high school students in a competition to build an application of their choosing (simple game, tutorial, etc.) that teaches other students a topic related to science, technology, engineering or math (S.T.E.M) in a new and engaging way.

This year's challenge attracted nearly 200 students from 14 high schools throughout the state and included two virtual teams of home schooled students from as far away as Connecticut and New Jersey. TAG-Ed awarded scholarships totaling nearly $25,000 to 25 of those students in a special awards ceremony held at the offices of McKesson Corporation. Robert Hendricks Jr., SVP, Program and Portfolio Management, Office of the Chief Technology Officer, addressed the students on the opportunity for students interested in pursuing technology careers.

Winning teams were evaluated and received awards based upon their ability to develop a Web-based application using a systems development process that is typical of a real-world development, though on a smaller scale. For the first time, faculty members that supported the winning teams received a stipend for their supply budgets. In the past, when you had something that you wanted to market, a business, a product or a service, you would sink as much money as possible into radio, TV and print adds to get the word out about your business venture. However, now that most people spend as much time online as they do doing anything else, the approach to marketing has had to change. This is because standard methods of marketing and advertising no long work on the medium of the Internet. What is becomes the Internet equivalent to a top flight advertising and marketing agency is the search engine optimization service.
However, one of the great things about this type of modern day Internet marketing is that everyone can do it and it doesn't have to be for the people with deep pockets and large marketing budgets. The fact is that SEO Services can work with the biggest and the smallest of budgets as well as everything in between. So, regardless of whether you are looking for marketing on shoestring budget or you have the big money to roll out a huge SEO campaign, you can still expect to see some significant results from this form of marketing.
One thing that an SEO Service does have to contend with is the fact that a person can actually do an SEO campaign themselves. Now, it will typically take the person longer to implement the plan and it will take a fair amount of time to see the kind of results that you would when using a professional service, with the SEO DIY'ers, there is more competition which means that your average SEO firm is really going to have to stand out in order to attract customers.
The fact is that with a search engine optimization service, you can expect fast result without the trial and error of leaning a new may of marketing while trying to run your business at the same time.
If you are looking to increase your search engine ranks, improve your websites traffic and improve the profitability of your website or Internet based business, you should seriously consider using an SEO company for your online marketing needs.

Atlanta Immigration Attorney Karen Weinstock Explains HB87.

Atlanta, GA Monday, April 18, 2011 -

Last week, the Georgia legislature passed HB87, a state immigration law trying to combat illegal immigration. HB87 is a bill modeled after Arizona's controversial anti-immigrant law. Among other provisions, the bill allows local police to investigate the immigration status of individuals and requires businesses to verify work eligibility of new hires through E-Verify, a flawed federal employment verification system, Atlanta immigration attorney Karen Weinstock reports.

The bill now goes to Governor Nathan Deal who has indicated he will sign the bill despite pleas from Georgia's business community who rightly fear the law will hurt the state's employers, especially in the critical tourism, farming and hospitality industries.

"The legislature ignored the state's $1.3 billion budget shortfall, and Georgia businesses stand to lose much more" said Karen Weinstock, Atlanta immigration lawyer and the managing attorney of the Atlanta Immigration Law Firm Siskind Susser.

"Even though the Arizona law passed, it has not been implemented fully and has been deemed unconstitutional, Arizona lost a whopping $490 million from lost tourism revenue plus $141 million from cancelled conferences, including a quarter billion dollars in lost economic output, a projected $86 million in lost wages, 2,800 jobs over the next two to three years and more than $1 million that the state has already spent on legal fees defending it", added the Atlanta immigration attorney Karen Weinstock. "Plans for an economic boycott of Georgia are underway in a similar way to Arizona. Georgia stands to lose much more because it is in third place for conventions versus Arizona which was 17", added the Atlanta immigration lawyer.

"This law is unconstitutional because it oversteps the Federal government's sole authority to enforce the immigration laws according to the priorities the Federal government, not the state, determines", said Karen Weinstock, the immigration lawyer in Atlanta.

"The judge in the Arizona case and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that upheld the injunction against Arizona from implementing its immigration law found that the law's negative impact on foreign relations weighed in favor of upholding the injunction, as did the potential to create a patchwork of similar legislation in all fifty states, which is what is happening now", added the head of the Georgia Immigration Law Firm.

The courts in the Arizona case held that the provision where officers could arrest a person who they "reasonably" suspect of being in the country illegally is preempted by federal law because it cannot supersede the 287(g) programs.

"The Arizona law that made it a state crime to fail to carry immigration papers, and to work or even solicit work without federal authorization were found unconstitutional in the Arizona case as they will be found with HB87 in Georgia because Congress left no room for states to regulate the carrying of federal immigration documents, and because Congress decided to penalize employers, not employees, for the hiring of undocumented workers" said the Atlanta immigration attorney.

"I already know about a few organizations that are planning to sue the state once the law passes on the same anti-constitutional grounds. States should stay out of regulating immigration law which is a federal issue, and instead put pressure on the representative in the U.S. Senate and Congress to fix this broken immigration system we have in this country", concluded the Atlanta immigration lawyer Karen Weinstock.

Whether you have a website for your business already or are planning on getting one in the future, it is crucial that it is properly designed. If you don't have it designed for both people and search engines like Google and Bing, it will never bring you new business. And if the website is not going to help you make more money, it is useless. Thankfully, you can hire a search engine optimization service to make your website more effective if you already have one or they can build you a new one the right way if you don't have one yet.
Many business owners want to know why they cannot just have a website that will bring them more business. There are several reasons why that is the case, but the main one is the fact that Google wants to show people the most relevant result to what they are searching for. So if they are searching for your products or services, why should Google show your site rather than your competitors? By hiring an SEO Service, you will be able to make sure people see you first. If you don't, they will probably find your competition first.
The best part about SEO Services is that they don't just help your site to rank better in the search engines, they help it to convert better. So when potential customers come to your site, they will not simply hit the back button on their browser. They will feel compelled to call you and schedule an appointment or order from you. You will then be able to convert them into long term, paying customers. You will not have to worry about your website's performance and will be able to focus on your business and providing the best customer service instead.
Don't underestimate what search engine optimization experts can do for your bottom line. They will help you to get the best return on your investment in a website, and that will help you to solidify your company's future. More people are going online to find what they need than ever before, so you should be there waiting for them.

ATLANTA (April 27, 2011) - The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) today announced the formation of its newest society, TAG Data Governance. The mission of the society is to raise awareness of data governance as a transformational business function and to foster a collaborative non-competitive environment for data governance professionals to share their experiences and showcase their successes. TAG Data Governance is holding a formation and interest meeting on Wednesday, April 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Defoor Centre.

"Given the pervasiveness of data leaks and countless new opportunities to optimize data usage, a new area of management has transpired--data governance," said Tino Mantella, president and CEO of TAG. "Because many organizations still struggle with organizing and securely managing their data, we are proud to add TAG Data Governance as our 30th society. As with our other societies, we believe this will be an invaluable resource to help educate, inform and unite Georgia's stakeholders in this space."

Among many definitions in the marketplace, data governance is defined as the formal and informal process of managing data within an organization. What is done to control the data - good or bad - is data governance.

By joining the TAG Data Governance, members will gain the opportunity to network with others in their industry and discuss strategies of building a world class data governance office. The Data Governance Society will create the kind of coordinated, industry-wide approach that is required for data governance to grow beyond its IT roots and take its proper place as a core business function that helps to drive businesses into new markets and grow revenue.

The Data Governance society is chaired by the Senior Director of Data Governance at McKesson Corporation, John Eisenhauer. The society board consists of Rick Young and Niki Rabren at 3 Sage Consulting, Steve Strout and Mario Brenner at Black Watch Data, Johannes Dorsch at JD Consulting Group and Holly Starling at McKesson Corporation.

"Data is an elusive concept that underlies everything we do and controlling it takes discipline and focus," said John A. Eisenhauer, senior director of Data Governance at McKesson Corporation. "The most successful businesses sense this and build business intelligence and data management practices. Few, however, have recognized to the true strategic power of governing their data proactively. The Data Governance Society seeks to evolve data into a foundation for operational effectiveness and a platform for strategic agility and unique competitive positioning."

The TAG Data Governance society formation meeting is open to the public with light hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. TAG members may attend for free and non-members will have a nominal entry fee. The meeting will be held at the Defoor Centre, located at 1710 Defoor Avenue, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. For more information visit www.tagonline.org/tag-data-governance.php

As you may probably know, Google's algorithm has changed. The new edition of the ranking system affects close to 12% of the total queries being made and that's a huge number!

What has exactly changed? They took into consideration the quality of the content that content farms produce. Huge organizations were built by producing tons of content just for the sake of it. Article directories were also hit, seeing their rankings plummet lower by a great factor.

But does this concern YOU?

Truth is that it depends. If you were an article marketer that used article directories and/or just created pages on Squidoo, without having a main domain to post your own content, I feel for you. The sad thing is that no one told you this thing will happen and chances are, you were caught off guard. The truth is that this couldn't last forever. With the huge growth of the internet and the amazing marketing opportunities for companies and individuals, it's logical that everyone would jump onto the bandwagon. Therefore, for someone without the technical know-how and techniques needed to succeed due to increasing competition, the quantity they produced, had to rise if they wanted to stay ahead.

As the average quality dropped, article directories, blogs and generally speaking the whole internet started to have lower standards as far as content was concerned and therefore, article quality of big sites was impacted.

This thing couldn't last forever and if Google didn't do something about it, visitors would gradually lose their trust in it. As a necessary step, Google decided to manually review sites and also gather feedback from the users too. So even if you were writing amazing articles on E-Zine articles for example, you would still see a difference.

If I have my own blog, will this affect me?

Think of it this way. If you stumbled upon a blog like yours and found the articles useful, then there's no way it will affect you. On the contrary, you will see an increase in visits due to the fact that content farms will lose their powerful rankings.

If I have my own blog but still use article marketing to promote it?

Then you're one of the luckiest losers of this whole situation. You will still get visitors to your main properties and at the same time be able to continue growing your Blog as a whole. The only shift in your daily routine will be that you will spend less time writing for article directories and invest more in your own properties' content, and that's a great thing!

If my only existence in the internet marketing space was through article marketing and all the links were promoting affiliate offers?

Then I would suggest to act now and act fast! You should get your own domain name and your own hosting account and start your own web property. Now you will have to pay more attention than ever to quality and start building from there.

Instead of Writing an article and sending a link directly to the affiliate in order to make a sale, you should Write the article, send the link to your main page (or an inner article page of your blog) and then start writing quality articles that make the sale. You can do the same for the existing articles too! It will help a lot. Don't get me wrong, in the beginning you will lose even more sales but with this method you will:

    - Build an audience that you wouldn't otherwise have.
    - Build an email list with readers that trust you. And by the way, a list will convert 10 times better than just an affiliate link.
    - Brand your self as an authority and not as someone who just wrote another article on the Internet.
    - Become your own master and never be affected by other user's greed and sloppiness again.

You could argue with me right here and say that it would be better to start the new blog from scratch, without changing the content farm links and you wouldn't be wrong, but the end result will be much better if you do. If you change the links destination from the affiliate site to your own blog instead, you will lose close to 80% of your sales from those articles, at least in the beginning. The benefit though, is that you will be able to grow your blog much faster than if you were starting from scratch and have visitors even from day one. Keep in mind that the affiliate links on the posts that have already been reposted on other blogs (other than the content farm) won't be changed and therefore you won't lose those conversions. To make a long story short, embrace the change, it would happen sooner or later anyway. It's better now than later on in the future. If you build your new web property, you will soon find out that this was what you should have done from day one. Don't let this change discourage you and work your way to the top with a new plan. And please take my advice, buy your own domain, host it on a hosting account, don't take the easy way again and go to blogger or wordpress.com and host it there; you are being penalized for other people's content already, don't let it happen again! It will be a bit more difficult to set up your own blog from scratch, but it's totally worth it! And if you are the last category of people who used article marketing to sell products, without owning your own blog, while writing one article in 5 minutes, well buddy you were lucky while it lasted, please don't blame Google or Content Farms.

Google announced a major change to its search algorithm, designed to weed out shallow and low-quality content from its top search results. Content farms were seen by many as the target. Were they hit? Who was hit? Some figures are coming out.

If you were expecting these figures to show Demand Media's eHow site to have been harmed -- surprise! Two studies show eHow actually gained. I'm still crunching through some of the figures, but the biggest "content farm" type brand that seems to have suffered are Associated Content.

Sistrix's Visibility Index Losers

Over at Sistrix, the company crunched through 1 million keywords that is says it has before and after placement data about. It then ranked these by a "visibility" index value that Sistrix created, which takes into account the number of keyword positions lost, specific ranking position and estimated clickthrough rate from those results.

Using an index makes some sense, because if you just rank by the percentage of keywords lost, you get some sites with relatively few ranking positions dominating the top "losers" list. Below, the domains that lost the most total visibility, according to Sistrix:

Domain Visibility Index Loss SISTRIX (percentage loss)
wisegeek.com 93.3622 -77%
ezinearticles.com 58.4273 -90%
suite101.com 50.755 -94%

Note that the table above is slightly different than what you'll find at the Sistrix site itself. I created the chart using a spreadsheet that Sistrix sent to me (more about that below), sorted by the same factor that Sistrix says it used for its own post. I'm checking on this.

Sistrix: Most Keyword Rankings Lost

Upon request, Sistrix will send people a full list of 331 domains that were found to have lost in its analysis. With Sistrix's permission, here are the top 100 domains that suffered losses, sorted by total number of keyword positions lost. Also show is the percentage loss. For example, AssociatedContent.com was found to have 216,419 top rankings before the change, which dropped to 53,512 rankings after -- a loss of 162,917, or 75%.

Ubergizmo Disagrees

Look toward the end of the chart above, and you'll see site Ubergizmo listed. However, in the comments below, Ubergizmo's Hubert Nguyen suggests that Sistrix has it wrong. His site's search related traffic has gone up since the change, and he's posted a chart to back that up:

The data is from Google Webmaster Central. What could be happening is that Sistrix is right -- Ubergizmo may have lost rankings -- but it might also be better placed in some other searches where it has retained these but other sites have dropped.

Sistrix: Demand Media & eHow Escape!

Interestingly, for an update that was targeted at content farms (in my view, nor am I alone in that view), Demand Media's flagship eHow.com site doesn't make the list. Over 300 other sites saw a "visibility index" drop worse than eHow. In fact, Sistrix says that eHow actually went up in visibility value (from 270 to 310) and increased the number of top rankings held, from 317,320 to 324,021.

A few of Demand Media's other sites did see losses. AnswerBag.com and Trails.com just made the end of Sistrix's top 25 visibility losers (in my chart using Sistrix's data, they'd come in at 32 and 34, respectively. In terms of positions lost, LiveStrong was ranked 39th on a percentage basis but only 293 in total number lost. AnswerBag ranked 10th in total number lost, and Trails.com 16th. On a percentage basis, AnswerBag was way back at 158th while Trails.com was 27th.

Overall, I'd say Demand Media did well in this update, at least according to Sistrix's data.

SEOBook On Losers...

Over at SEObook, Aaron Wall takes the Sistrix numbers above and tries to come up with a winners list. He's come up with a list of sites that seem similar to eHow (which is run by Demand Media, and which is NOT in the Sistrix top ten above but which is considered by some to be a content farm). He then takes that list of sites to see which have had gains and losses in traffic. Top losses:

  1. ezinearticles.com
  2. associatedcontent.com
  3. suite101.com
  4. hubpages.com
  5. buzzle.com

And Winners

And sites with top traffic gains:

  1. youtube.com
  2. ebay.com
  3. facebook.com
  4. instructables.com

Keep in mind this isn't comprehensive, not in the least. There could be -- and probably are -- sites that have gained much more from the update. But figuring that out is hard. Wall's working as best he can within a "content farm" type category.

Dan Abbamont

Dan Abbamont mined about 60,000 queries, if I understand correctly, and compared rankings on Google.com to Google.ca, which is Google Canada. His logic is that since the change is only working in the US, this will show a before-and-after look by using Google Canada.

I'm not sure this is correct. Google Canada will have geo-targeted results that will be different than Google.com. The ranking changes he's seeing might be due to that. But here's a summary of what he's found:

  • ezinearticles.com lost an average of 34 positions
  • hubpages.com lost an average of 31 positions
  • squidoo.com lost an average of 15 positions
  • articlesbase.com lost an average of 29 positions
  • buzzle.com lost an average of 30 positions
  • associatedcontent.com lost an average of 22 positions
  • suite101.com lost an average of 33 positions

Abbamont also provides his whole dataset for anyone to analyze as part of his post about the study.

seoClarity's Losers...

From seoClarity comes a report (PDF format) that looked at 60,000 keywords along with before-and-after data to see which sites suffered the most ranking losses. These were:

  1. TheFind.com
  2. BizRate.com
  3. ShopWiki.com
  4. EzineArticles.com
  5. HubPages.com
  6. Buzzillions.com
  7. Shopping.com
  8. Suite101.com
  9. Kaboodle.com
  10. AssociatedContent.com

And Winners (Including eHow)

The company also looked at those that had the most gains. The top ten:

  1. Amazon.com
  2. eHow.com
  3. NexTag.com
  4. Wikipedia.com
  5. Walmart.com
  6. Target.com
  7. Etsy.com
  8. Answers.Yahoo.com
  9. Sears.com
  10. bestonlinecoupons.com

BNET Gets Compete Traffic Stats

BNET worked with Compete to get before-and-after traffic data for a variety of selected sites. The summary:

  • eHow: seems to be largely untouched
  • Livestrong.com: had a drop
  • Answerbag.com: had a drop
  • Trails.com: continued an existing drop
  • Examiner.com: continued an existing drop
  • Helium.com: had a big drop

WSJ Gets Comments

Wondering what some of those sites listed above as being hit have to say? The Wall Street Journal has a nice article that did the rounds collecting comments. Some, like WiseGeek, confirmed a traffic drop. Others like Associated Content, said they are focusing on bringing more traffic to their articles directly rather than from Google. Google also said that if its YouTube site gained, that was "happenstance."

Lake Mary, FL (May 3th, 2011) - Axium Healthcare Pharmacy, a leader in specialty and compounding pharmacy, introduced a fully translated Spanish version of its patient Web portal earlier this week. Axium has substantial business in Puerto Rico and considering the latest 2010 census data, this is a major step to improve quality of care for patients.
"A significant portion of our business consists of Spanish-speaking patients so we must be able to communicate effectively with those patients in a manner that they prefer whether it's over the phone or via the Web on a computer or mobile device," commented Mark Montgomery, President and Chief Executive Officer.
The 2010 Census data clearly validates that Hispanic growth within the United States is continuing to increase at a rate greater than any other demographic. The Hispanic population has contributed to more than half of the growth over the last 10 years in the U.S. and will continue to be an important focus for Axium. The patient portal was designed with growth and multi-lanaguage capabilites because approximately 15% of the population is Hispanic and Axium has substantial pharmacy operations in Puerto Rico.
"We have always identified and collected the primary language preference of our patients," said Mr. Montgomery. "Language preference is now something we have fully integrated into the online patient portal, but the user still has a choice of English or Spanish and we also look at browser language preferences to ensure we deliver the appropriate content to the user for current and future visits to the site."
AxiumPortal.com has been professionally translated to the natural, spoken language. Every prompt, button, link, and error message have been addressed to provide a complete Spanish experience to the end user. Effective patient communication ultimately produces increased patient quality of care and satisfaction.
